Interview With : Anil Kapoor, Bollywood actor on the second season of his hit TV series 24
Updated on: 15 Jun 2016
After doing a 'Mr India' from the small screen, Anil Kapoor will be back — come July — with the second season of 24, the desi version of the hit show in which Kiefer Sutherland's gun-toting undercover cop Jack Bauer becomes Kapoor's Jai Singh Rathore. With Season 1 praised for its slick presentation and superior production values, the father of three — still young at 59 — promises that Season 2 will be "bigger, better and more exciting". Joining AK at the 24 launch in Mumbai last week was another AK — "younger brother" Aamir Khan. Also present to lend support was daughter Sonam. t2 got a ringside view of the action at the launch at PVR Icon in Mumbai's Infinity Mall.
What will 24 Season 2 have that Season 1 didn't?
Well... (pauses) it's completely different from Season 1. My character (Jai Singh Rathore) is the same. We have tried to make it bigger and better and more exciting in terms of scale and content.
What's been your learning from Season 1?
We have learnt a lot. Hopefully, we will learn more! (Smiles) This time we have tried to adapt it to the Indian sensibility a little more so that it is slightly more relatable to the audience. But we didn't want to lose the aesthetics, the thrill element and the grit of the original 24. We have tried to broaden the audience in an organic and systematic way rather than completely changing the way it is. It's been done so that more people watch it rather than a few. In the first season, there was a feeling that it is a little niche, fast and dark to a certain extent.
What mistakes of Season 1 you will definitely not repeat in Season 2?
