Exclusive Interview with : Sonam Kapoor actress, says she is not focusing only on solo films
Updated on: 29 Jun 2016
In November, Sonam Kapoor will complete nine years in Bollywood. The actor says she is "not focusing only on solo films" even after being in the industry for so long.
Here, she talks about her reasons to do multi-starrers, working on a film with sister-producer Rhea Kapoor, and more.
It is believed that Bollywood actors focus more on solo-lead films. But after Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) and Neerja, you are working on a multi-starrer, Veere Di Wedding, that also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan…
I do things that excite me. For me, it is about how I impact the world [with my work], and how I evolve. I want to do solo-lead films. When something interesting comes along, I will do it. Right now, I am excited about my new film.
Are you competing with anyone?
I am not in a race with anyone, but myself. I try to beat my records. I don't care what other people are doing. My happiness comes from the work I do, and if I push myself as an artiste. You need to look at your life, and go about with dignity in whatever you do.
Do you feel a sense of responsibility after your last two films did well at the box office?
I always had a sense of responsibility, more so after becoming a public figure. When you are a public figure, everything you say and do has an impact. We need to be responsible. At the same time, I need to be honest to my craft too. Striking that balance is difficult. I tell myself, "Just be honest in everything you do and things will be good."
