A Conversation With : Masaba Gupta, Fashion Designer On Udta Punjab
Updated on: 30 Jun 2016
She's at a career crossroads — Masaba Gupta told t2 while in town last week to launch her kidswear line at kiddie fashion den Style Creche. The designer shared why she's taking in the view from the "sidelines".
So, you watched Udta Punjab thrice!
I think I haven't seen a film that is so dark… I remember seeing it for the first time when there was no background music and I still felt so much. When I saw it for the final time, it just amplified. I was depressed for a whole day. It's very real.… I think Alia (Bhatt) is going to get some kind of a big award for sure.
What did you tell Alia after watching Udta Punjab?
The third time we saw it together. The thing with Alia is, I can't tell Alia what I feel… there is too much of a personal connect. So, may be I will write her a letter soon! Also, when I tell her anything, she'll laugh. I don't think anybody can match what she has done for years to come. We have a lot of good actresses in Bollywood, but to do that at the age of 23, it takes a toll on you… but it doesn't take a toll on her. I have never met someone with so much sense of an abandon in my life. I actually want to learn from Alia. I want my temperament to be Alia's.
You were in Cannes this year with Team Raman Raghav 2.0. What was the experience like?
