I was born in the west of Ireland to a wonderful family. However, I experienced several challenges in my earlier years, including sexual assault at 7 years old at the hands of a guest in our home, anorexia nervosa from age 12 to 17 (it was my way of coping to challenge at the time) and I developed epilepsy as a result of a car crash when I was 19. As you can imagine, those years were very emotionally challenging as it meant picking myself up off the ground more than once. My life was in tatters. Thankfully I came through those times, as a result of changing my mindset. Once I gained some strength, I purposely met people who were happy and successful and implemented their strategies into my own life, I learned how to be, do and have all that I want in life. I am now a healthy, happy and successful woman. My career is now helping people. I am a professional speaker at business and motivational events. I live my teachings. 2.Why choose this line? What inspired you? I chose my line of work because I know what it is to experience challenge and how to overcome it to get successful results on a very real level. I have seen so many people teach from stage but they haven't even got the results themselves. My business is more than a business for me so I walk my talk. It is my life. I believe that I am the best at what I do, in that I can pinpoint very quickly where a person needs to make changes and what those changes need to be. Most importantly I have the strategies to help people make those changes, strategies that work in real life! 3.Tell us about any current projects or initiatives you wish to promote. • I released my new book, The Confidence to Succeed earlier this year. It literally is the recipe for success and it includes practical exercises throughout to ensure the reader gets results. • I host seminars with world leading speakers in the personal and business development industry. 4.What is one strategy that has helped you grow your business? Please explain how. In my opinion, people do not buy products, they buy people and experiences. Therefore never focus on selling product. Instead focus on building and maintaining strong win-win relationships. If you want to grow a company, create a strong team and happy customers. They will grow the company with you. It's important to go the extra mile, to give people a wow experience every time, not just provide a service or product. The key is to be the solution to your customer's problem or need and then show them that you appreciate them investing in you. Personalise your gratitude, whether that be sending a simple thank you card, making a call to thank them for their business or sending them a gift of appreciation. People just don't expect it as very few people do it. But they remember it! 5. If you weren't doing what you do now, what would you be doing? I don't think I could do anything else. It's part of me. Helping people IS me. 6.Who has been your biggest inspiration? My mother, actually. Although she passed away last July, her personality lives on. She was the kindest strongest person I have ever known. Kindness and strength inspire me. We were not put on this earth to be takers. We were put on this earth to show kindness and help each other be the best we can be. Anyone who helps someone else inspires me. I personally know many of the world's most "successful" people. Some are happy and some are not. The people who inspire me are people who live what they teach – the happy ones. 7. Professionally, where do you see yourself in the next few years? What goals do you have for the venture? I am growing my seminar business. I will host and speak at a seminar with 20,000 people in attendance. My seminars change lives on a big scale. 8.What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive? I have two parts to my day. Life needs to be balanced. The first part of my day is dedicated to tasks that will improve my business. I really focus during this time on what needs to be done. I'm not a fan of wasting time so I value every moment of it. I look at what's urgent versus what's important and I do the things that will ultimately bring me towards my goals. I also choose carefully who I spend my time with. People can influence your thinking so I choose to be around people who help me think successfully. I brainstorm with my team, have meetings with providers and I make a point of meeting successful thinkers every week. The second part of my day is devoted to family and friends. At the end of the day, what is business for but a vehicle for helping you enjoy life with those you love, That said, I devote time to my son, my partner and anyone else who needs a bit of fun. Whether it be playing with my son or lying on a beach, it all matters to me. I like to think of that part of my day as a time to create beautiful memories. 9.What was the worst job you ever had and what did you learn from it? I worked as a cleaner for a few months. What did I learn from it? Become the person who employs the cleaner and treat them nicely 10.As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do? I look for ways to give back, to create an impression that stands out. Any time I meet someone, I will always ask them "How can I help you?" Very few people ask that questions as they are so focused on what they can get from someone else. The fact is, the more you help others, the more they will help you. Life and business is easy that way. And it feels wonderful!
